St. Louis, Mo., Dec. 8, 2017 – Washington University in St. Louis junior forward Ryan Sproule and junior midfielder Ben Strozewski were named to the 2017 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Scholar All-North/Central Region Team, as announced by the Association Thursday.
Sproule was a second-team selection, while Strozewski earned third-team honors.
Sproule, a second-team all-University Athletic Association (UAA) and third-team all-Central Region honoree, started all 16 games and led the team in scoring with seven goals and three assists for 17 points. He was seventh in the UAA in goals, eighth in points and 10th in game-winning goals (2). Sproule scored game-winning goals in wins over DePauw and Webster.
A two-time Academic all-UAA honoree, Sproule has a 3.49 grade point average while majoring in computer science.
Strozewski, a second-team all-UAA selection, started 12 of 14 games played and had three goals and three assists for nine points, which was second on the squad. He scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Case Western Reserve Oct. 13.
A two-time Academic all-UAA selection, Strozewski has a 3.89 GPA while majoring in physics. He was also a 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Five honoree.
